In today's episode, we will take you on a delightful food tour across Rohtak, a fast growing city of Haryana. This gastronomic tour was led by our gracious host Ankit Girdhar who is an active food blogger from the city. He took us to some of the most popular destinations in the city that have been catering to the cravings of the residents for quite some time. Let's see what all we savour.

Our first stop was Bhatia Puri Wala in Babra Mohalla where we tried urad dal stuffed bedmi puri with aloo ki sabzi and kalonji ki chutney. Being their specialty, the combination was quite tasty and fun. Moreover, one who has grown up in North India can never get tired of puris and kachoris.

The second stop was Gulab Rewari Shop at Kewal Ganj Chowk. They have a pretty impressive range of rewaris which is a sesame and sugar or jaggery based sweet confection. It is a wintertime treat that is considered healthy. We loved the classic ones.

From there we went to the third stop Tapasya Paratha Junction on Delhi Bypass road to have a humongous stuffed paratha which was nearly kg in weight. This place is clearly for people who go out to eat in big groups. In spite of its monstrous size, our pick, the mixed veg paratha was quite delicious and spicy.

The fourth stop was Parkash Non Veg Corner near Ashoka Chowk. We tried their speciality tawa chicken which was a greasy griddle fried chicken dish. With loads of butter and grilled chicken pieces it was a decent find.


We then went to the fifth stop Tinku Da Dhaba opposite Durga Bhawan Mandir whose tandoori chicken and mutton fares are very popular with non veg enthusiasts. We tried tangi kebab or tandoor grilled chicken leg pieces that were served with and without cream. The cream one was more delicious because the fresh cream and spices brilliantly complimented the smoky grilled chicken.


Our sixth stop was Kake Da Dhaba, which was located close to the previous stop. They had a familiar yet eclectic menu of both veg and non veg delicacies. We loved their chicken tikka masala and paneer butter masala that were prepared with a generous use of ingredients.


After all that gluttony we went to our seventh stop to try chane ka soup from Vishal Soup Stall in Palika bazaar. We quite enjoyed a serving of thick and smooth, black chickpea based soup, especially because it was drizzling.

The eight and the last stop for the day was Mast Banarasi Paan shop near Ashoka Chowk. The luscious and loaded shahi paan that we tried here was so satisfying.

Overall it was a great experience exploring the popular flavours of Rohtak with our amazing host Ankit. We will see you soon on a new journey.
