Warner Bros. will release all of its new 2021 movies simultaneously on HBO Max
Via the

WarnerMedia is pushing even more aggressively into streaming by releasing every single one of its movies in 2021 simultaneously on HBO Max.

There are some limitations to the new business model. The movies will only stream on HBO Max for one month before leaving the platform for a period of time. They will also play in theaters simultaneously, keeping the relationship with movie theater distributors like AMC and Regal. The plan is to run this experiment for one year. For people who don’t have access to HBO Max in their market, it appears that theatrical releases will still be the go-to option.

The movies Warner Bros. is planning to release for now include: The Little Things, Judas and the Black Messiah, Tom & Jerry, Godzilla vs. Kong, Mortal Kombat, Those Who Wish Me Dead, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, In The Heights, Space Jam: A New Legacy, The Suicide Squad, Reminiscence, Malignant, Dune, The Many Saints of Newark, King Richard, Cry Macho, and Matrix 4.

Furious Christopher Nolan Blasts HBO Max as the “Worst Streaming Service”

The Tenet filmmaker, who has made his biggest films for Warner Bros., was left in “disbelief” when WarnerMedia announced it will debut its entire 2021 slate on HBO Max.

For a filmmaker rather famously known for holding back when depicting the effects of violence onscreen, Christopher Nolan had no trouble drawing blood against his longtime home Warner Bros. on Monday. Nolan called the studio’s plan to launch its entire 2021 slate simultaneously in theaters and via HBO Max a “real bait and switch,” and lambasted the fledgling streaming service as “the worst” among all other platforms.

“Some of our industry’s biggest filmmakers and most important movie stars went to bed the night before thinking they were working for the greatest movie studio and woke up to find out they were working for the worst streaming service,” Nolan said Monday in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cat Vasko to Pen Female-Centric Plastic Man Movie

Black List writer Cat Vasko has been hired to work on a feature centered on DC Comics hero Plastic Man.

Vasko’s hiring, however, is meant to take the project in a new direction entirely. Sources tell THR that the project, which is in the earliest stages of development, will now be a female-led vehicle. It is unclear if that means a title change or not.

Ava DuVernay, ‘Arrow’ Writer to Develop CW Series Based on DC Character Naomi

DC Comics character Naomi could soon be coming to The CW thanks to Ava DuVernay and former “Arrow” writer and executive producer Jill Blankenship.

DuVernay and Blankenship are attached to write and executive produce “Naomi.” The potential series follows a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse.
